Many of us decide to work at home to reduce the many problems related to the typical nine to five job - things like an unreasonable supervisor, too much to do and/or unworkable cut off dates.

Nonetheless, we may rapidly discover that working from home brings its own issues.  So, how should we cope with these new stressors?

1.  Allocate A Pleasant Office At Home

Be sure you have a private workspace, together with all of the mandatory appliances such as telephone, PC, printer, fax, and so on. You will need a snug chair and a solid desk.  You can make your office area more welcoming by seeing to it that you have lots of space, lots of light - and, if you are a feng shui afficienado, have someone come in and feng shui your space!

2.  Delete Unnecessary Activities

Go thru your “To-Do” List and delete anything that really doesn’t fit on the list, or anything that doesn’t positively need to be done.  Be firm in your actions - remove as much unnecessary effort as possible.  Editing your list will not only save you the time you would spend attempting to complete those tasks - it will also prevent the stress and physical problems related to fretting about those nonessential tasks.

3.  Obtain Required Tools and Equipment

The right tools make any effort much simpler.  Spend the cash to get the basic equipment you need to do your job.  And, if your financial position permits, spend some additional money to get the tools that ( while not totally mandatory ) will streamline your vocation and make your life typically much less intense.

Buy a dependable, computerized marketing management system and let automation take care of lead management and order fulfillment chores for your business.

4. Hire a Personal Assistant ( s )

Determine tasks that are standard, repeated and not among your critical processes.  Look at outsourcing them to a virtual assistant (which is far more affordable than you could think).  Candidates for outsourcing are article promotion, site design, SEO, backlinking, lead follow-ups, etc.

5.  Build a Support Community

Working from home can become a very lonesome activity.  Establish a powerful support network - this should be a group of comrades with whom you connect through the web (e.g, forums, chat rooms ) or a local group in your community or church.  The main thing is to keep in regular contact with people who are important to you - and who can understand what you are going through as an entrepreneur.

6.  Manage Your Aspirations

Don’t expect miracles or overnight success.  Establish a connection with a coach or friend who can help you set pragmatic goals and expectations - and help you stay focused when things don’t go quite the way you would like them to go. An internet, or home-based business, is simply that - a business.  As such it requires a continuing supply of clients and products and sellers, etc.  Each one of those presents another chance for a problem to occur, inflating your daily levels of stress - just like the typical nine-to-five situation.

7. Break It Into Pieces

Your great and wonderful strategies may seem inspiring, but taken as a whole, they can be extraordinarily overpowering and scary ( e.g., “I wish to be a millionaire” or “I want to retire in 5 years”).  The smartest thing to do with such grand goals is to “chunk them,” i.e, break them into much smaller, more manageable bites and then make a plan to gain each of those sub-goals.

8.  Eat Well

Eat a healthy, nutritious diet rich in fruit and veg.  Reduce or eliminate caffeine ( coffee, black and green tea, cola drinks, and chocolate ).

9.  Exercise

Exercise relieves stress, pushes oxygen to the brain, and offers a a brief interlude from stressed work-related activities.

10.  Rest & Recreate

Try to book time as a normal part of your day to breathe and do anything that you enjoy, even if it is just for a couple of minutes.

One of the best advantages of a run work-at-home} business is that you are now your own head honcho - but that’s also one of the biggest causes of stress in your life.  You are now the one individual who has to choose what jobs have to be done, when and by whom.
